aroma AcuPoint therapy with essential oils
In addition to very gentle acupuncture techniques, Dr. Mims also uses needle-free methods, such as applying essential oils to acupuncture points. Oils are paired with points based on their properties and the desired therapeutic effect. For example, an oil with calming properties, such as Lavender, can be applied to a point known for its calming effect; similarly, a grounding oil, such as Vetiver, can be applied to a grounding point. A modern treatment with traditional roots, Aroma AcuPoint Therapy is particularly useful for emotional symptoms.
Dr. Mims often incorporates Aroma AcuPoint Therapy into her acupuncture treatments, but it can also be used as a stand-alone treatment. This is an especially useful option for people who want the benefits of treatment rooted in the theories of Chinese medicine, but who prefer not to use needles.
Aroma AcuPoint Therapy was developed by Peter Holmes, LAc, MH, and Tiffany Carole Pollard, MS, LAc, with whom Dr. Mims trained.
